Hot on the heels of editor Jeff Buchanan‘s collaboration with MJZ director Spike Jonze on the captivating Apple film “Welcome Home” featuring FKA Twigs, Buchanan has also edited HBO‘s dark new comedy, “Barry“, which premieres Sunday, March 25.
“Barry” stars Bill Hader (SNL, Trainwreck) who plays a hitman turned aspiring actor. The series, created by Hader and Alec Berg (Silicon Valley), is also Hader’s directorial debut. Early reviews are calling it “One of the best new comedies of the last few years,” (Rogerebert.com) and “One of the bigger creative surprises on television.” (The Hollywood Reporter)
Tune in to HBO this Sunday to catch the premiere of Bill Hader’s “Barry” edited by Jeff Buchanan.
“[Barry] takes the tired trope of hit-man-with-a-heart and turns it into something darker, rawer, and intermittently heartbreaking. It does this while remaining a comedy.” – Sophie Gilbert, The Atlantic
“It’s a comedy, really, and it balances all the Hollywood satire, character comedy, and noir tendencies beautifully. It’s filled with smart choices. Each perfectly cast character has a twist that places him or her outside of conventionality.” – Matthew Gilbert, Boston Globe
“Barry scores as a wildly original and sensationally entertaining hybrid of dark comedy and delirious action. … Barry kills–in every way imaginable.” – Matt Roush, TV Guide
